"A woman of valor, who can find? For her worth is far above rubies." Prov 31:10

The Telltale Family is saddened to report the death of Delores Streng.  She passed away in her sleep with her family present.

A true icon in the sport, an honorable, truthful lady of sterling character, Delores was much more than a friend. Her wisdom, she shared generously. Her strength in her own hard times and in others' trying times never wavered - we knew Delores was always there to give us correct advice and direction.

Even when we disagreed with her, she would tip her head and smile that beautiful smile - as a patient parent does with a trying child - and she would say, "I may be wrong - but I don't think so!" And 99.999% of the time, Delores was spot on! She was wonderful to talk to. Her intelligence and sharp mind in all things energized us. She was our "Mama San!"

"DelRose" was Telltale - founder, director, advisor, and throughout all the decades of successes of the Telltale dogs, she always thanked Julie Gasow - Delores never forgot or minimized how and with whom she began. Delores was strong, and played this game with enthusiasm, but she played with honor and she taught us how to take our wins graciously, and she taught us how to take our losses with good taste and sportsmanship.

Delores was beautiful. Oh, my, she was! Her son said that when he was a little boy, he thought she was so beautiful, she surely must be a movie star!

Delores Streng improved the sport in general, in additional to being a competitor in her own right. People from all breeds sought her out and admired her for her honesty and graciousness. Her humility and kindness set her apart.

The immediate family is planning a Celebration of Life later this summer, and is working on an educational scholarship in her name. More updates will come later. Until we can all be together, Telltale asks that you remember Delores with a kind word, or a kind deed to someone in need, just as she would do.

In addition, we are lifetime supporters of "Take the Lead", an organization that provides support for people in the sport of purebred dogs who suffer from life-threatening or terminal illness. Telltale Kennels, established in 1966, is one of the oldest kennels of English springer spaniels in the United States. Telltale dogs are known both nationally and internationally for their consistency to a specific breed type. We are proud of the fact that people everywhere can distinguish a Telltale springer. We strive to breed versatile, athletic dogs that are very much at home in both the conformation ring as well as the performance ring. Telltale springers make wonderful companions and can easily become your heart dog, as they are happiest in your lap.

The Telltale Team now consists of Delores Streng, Celie Florence, and Robin Novack. We have been delighted to include on the team our favorite cheerleader and top supporter, Beth Fink. We also welcome Laura King, whose expertise in both handling and business is an added bonus.
